“In all likelihood, if the (Ministry of Finance’s) payment scheme remains unchanged, I will not see justice done during my lifetime. Regardless, I will continue my family’s quest for justice, until my very last breath.”

Contact your representatives—whether in Lima or Washington—to demand they stand up for their constituents by doing everything in their power to ensure Peru fulfills its debt obligations:

If you are a Peruvian-American – Demand your elected representatives stand up for your rights. Under American law, since Peru expropriated your family’s property without “adequate and effective compensation,” the U.S. must cut off all aid to Peru—but instead continues to provide tens of millions of dollars annually.

If you are a Peruvian citizen – Demand your government pay what your family is due, and insist on an independent judiciary. In refusing to honor its commitment to you, the Peruvian government corrupted the Constitutional Tribunal and now relies on a fraudulently issued ruling to justify its ongoing default. Also, demand an end to the hypocrisy of President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.

“We cannot accept a solution whose cornerstone is the July 2013 ruling by the Peruvian Constitutional Tribunal. As you may be aware, this ruling is tainted with forgery and is currently under criminal investigation.”
